Google Cloud Platform for ASU
OneOrigin partnered with Arizona State University, one of America’s leading public research universities with advanced learning and support systems, to provide a web-based, graphical user interface that can be used to manage Google Cloud projects and resources.
Challenge
- ASU could not access the historic search console data for their marketing purposes, this has put them in the dark, and they were not clear about how the SEO is performing on a year-on-year basis.
- ASU could not track detailed youtube analytics as Google stopped providing analytics for the search query.
- ASU wanted to track Google Ads data daily, but the historical data was not available in the Analytics, so it was difficult to calculate the Ad performance.
Solution
Being a Data Science & Analytics advisor for one of the Leading State Universities in the US, we have built the whole cloud infrastructure with the data available from several sources like Google Search Console, YouTube, and Google Adwords.
As the Google search console doesn’t support historical data, we started utilizing Google BigQuery to store the data. From BigQuery, we have used data flows to categorize the data based on departments. With this categorization, people from different departments can create dashboards for their departments as well.
In addition to this, the cloud platform has a global dashboard that depicts daily traffic analysis based on page visits and queries.
We have used Google BigQuery and Cloud functions to extract the data from youtube and analyzed the search query in Google BigQuery.
We built the cloud platform to perform a daily backup of data from Google Adwords to BigQuery.
Result
- We enhanced SEO performance.
- Historical data was made available for ASU.
- We were able to retrieve youtube search query analytics.
